...I'm just horribly doinky at updating blogs regularly. ^^;;; There's been so much stuff going on these past few months too...and so much stuff that's happened and anime/J-dramas/etc. I've been watching. Sadly I did not get to see MoMusu at AX D: orz And another semester of college is starting in a few weeks too.

And I should get a new layout/icons...and update my sidebar...

Anyone have some good tips for LJ writer's block? XD

Morning Musume to perform at Anime Expo 2009

dfjakfdjasjfjajjkafREINADOINKIESadkfjasdjfkas;j;faGAKIKAMEsajfakljfkJUNJUN!!!!!!!
*explodes*

This...this is even more awesome than Shokotan!

But sadly, I probably will not be able to go...I live too far from LA D:

I hope they put it on a DVD or something like Shokotan did.

And the H!O commenters are doinking about how Morning Musume should never play at an anime convention because of "weeaboos" *rolls eyes* お前が言うな
Seriously, they go on and on about how MoMusu should do a non-fanclub performance/concert in the US and when they do, they still complain. -_-
And ANN commenters were doinking about it for the same reason ANN commenters doink about everything. :P (I'd hate to see their reactions if AKB48 were to perform at AX instead...)

I hope it's a good performance and that the AX staff doesn't doink things up too much.

Over the past few days, I formatted the computer's hard drive completely and reinstalled Windows XP, and also reinstalled most of my programs and put my stuff back on. This morning, I tried to install SP3 again, and this time....it worked!!!!

Here's a screenshot for proof:

Phew, I'm glad THAT'S over...

Well, I got an XP CD several days ago...here is some good news and bad news:

Bad news: I can't replace autochk.exe, and I can't do a repair install either, so I have to reinstall Windows. D:
Good news: The tech support helped me to do a parallel installation of Windows alongside the doinked one (the doinked one will be deleted and replaced with the previously parallel installation), and using it I was able to save all my stuff, including my 66-gig mp3 collection, to my external hard drive - so I still have my stuff intact! :D :D :D :D

However, when the doinked Windows gets deleted and replaced tomorrow, I have to reinstall the graphics and sound card drivers (and my programs too, but for now I'll concentrate on drivers/non-SP3 updates). Hopefully I'll be able to find the right drivers...

So on my main desktop computer which uses Windows XP SP2, I got a Windows Update asking me to install Service Pack 3. I install it, and everything goes smoothly, and I'm asked to restart the computer. I do so, and right after the XP logo shows up I get this lovely message:

autochk program not found - skipping autocheck

And it would not boot. I tried going into safe mode to see what I could do, but I couldn't go into safe mode either.

So I googled the message on the laptop computer and found Microsoft's advice, which is to overwrite the corrupt autochk.exe program with the clean one on your Windows XP startup disk.

The problem?

The doinks at HP DIDN'T INCLUDE AN XP STARTUP DISK with the computer! *headdesk*

So I'm going to call HP tomorrow and see if they could send me a startup disk...and if that fails, my dad will get his friend with an XP startup disk to come over.

Meanwhile I'll try to recover at least some of my 16+gig mp3 collection...

ugh. I hope I'll be able to fix this without losing all my stuff...

Well, I guess I didn't keep my promise to write in here more...^^;;; Not only because I'm bad at writing in journals/diaries/blogs frequently, but because of school. I've had to write all sorts of essays every week for one of my classes, in particular...it's taken a toll on my reading and anime/drama/etc. watching too.

And my sidebar is really out of date too; I should update that.

doiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiink

I'm going to write another fic for [info]yuletide this year, though it's still really early of course. Last year I participated in it for the first time and wrote an AzuDai fic. It was really fun, and so I'm going to do it again.

Maybe I should write more fanfics. I have not written fanfics regularly for several years.

Everyone, go out and buy or rent this ASAP!

Not only is the Right Stuf awesome for licensing Emma, MariMite AND Aria, at AX they also announced Gakuen Alice and a relicense of the Toward the Terra movie (speaking of TTT, the TV remake is coming out soon too). They still have other licenses in the works, hopefully they will continue their winning streak with doinkies.

Speaking of licenses, I wonder who is going to distribute Spice and Wolf for Kadokawa...

http://www.animenewsnetwork.com/review/honey-and-clover/gn-1

This reviewer missed THE WHOLE POINT of Honey and Clover and Hagu's character. Why do they assume that just because Hagumi has a more innocent personality and is younger-looking that Umino-sensei thinks all women should be that way? Why do they ignore the other female characters such as Rika and Ayumi, who have different personalities than Hagu and are drawn more realistically? ANN seems to find lolicon in everything these days - remember when the Les Miserables anime came out and ANN was all "OMG COSETTE'S THE MAIN CHARACTER AND SHE'S A LITTLE GIRL IT MUST BE LOLICON OHNOEZ!!!!!1111!!!", when there was absolutely nothing of the sort in the actual anime (and besides it was a doinking World Masterpiece Theater anime, aimed at children, not otaku). I'm sick of ANN's obsession with lolicon, which I suspect they bring up mostly because they know that articles about it will be controversial and bring more ad revenue in from people viewing the article. -_-

Hagumi isn't my most favorite character in H&C, and when I first read the series I used to think she was a Mary Sue. Then when I read and watched more and more of the series I discovered that there are a lot of reasons why her character is the way she is. It is not because Umino-sensei hates her own gender, as this doink thinks. Hagu, despite her appearance, is 18, a year younger than Takemoto. She is not a child. And while the guys initially fall in love with her because they think she is cute, they never see her in a sexual way. They are also inspired by how hard she works at her sculpture. Hagu is quiet and doesn't say much because she is shy and contemplative. She takes in the world and reflects it in her art.

Looking at this person's other reviews, she seems to misinterpret things often and seems to see "serious business" in everything, even the most frivolous manga she reviews.

In short, ANN sucks. Most of their staff is doinky, they make huge deals out of trivial things, their forums are not moderated well, the staff who work on the encyclopedia there (one of the only real reasons to go to ANN) are badly treated and underpaid, and the site itself is generally unfair. They will always continue to out-doink themselves in the name of drawing attention.

(Wow, the song title in "Current Music" actually describes them quite well XD)

LJ survey from [info]mippa
ABOUT YOU / YOUR JOURNAL

1. What is your LiveJournal username? How did you come up with it?
[info]doinkies. It seemed obvious for me to choose that surname because I have sometimes referred to myself as "doinkies".

2. Have you renamed before? If so, what were your old names? If you haven't renamed, what names would you want to rename to?
I've used "doinkies" so long on LJ, I have gotten used to it and will never change it.

3. How much does your userinfo say about you?
It's not as fancy as some other people's userinfo pages but I spruced it up a bit with the table and the doink and the last.fm charts and whatnot. I think it fits me fine, though I could have drawn a better picture of a doink.

4. How long have you been on LiveJournal?
Since May 15, 2003 - back when LJ was like mixi and you needed to get a code from another LJ user to join. I joined because not only were many people from THEM using it, but I also wanted to join the [info]marysues community and report doinky fanfiction. XD

5. What is the longest amount of time you've gone without posting?
I never post as often as I should, it's sad. I always procrastinate about writing LJ entries and recently I've been busy with school and whatnot...I don't know what the longest amount of time I've gone without posting is, because I never post much even though I want to.

6. On average, how many entries do you post per day? (Divide how many total entries you have by how many days you've been on LJ.)
I don't know...it's probably pretty low though T_T

7. What are your posts normally about?
Various fandom things.

8. Is your LiveJournal friends only? Why or why not?
It isn't friends only because I don't post a lot about my personal life or anything that might be too private.

9. Does your LiveJournal have an actual title or are you merely USER @ LiveJournal?
The title is "doinkies' journal of doinkiness", and I've had this title from day 1. It's a somewhat bland title compared to other people's LJs though.

10. How long do you see yourself staying on LiveJournal?
As long as my core group of friends and comms are on it.

H!P group Biyuuden will disband in June

I was really surprised when I read this announcement...then again I could sort of see it coming since their next single had been delayed/canceled, and their sales have gotten doinky compared to earlier releases of theirs. As always, on the big H!P boards people are banging their "H!P is doomed" drums and "Tsunku is a doink" gongs, but I've come to expect this sort of stuff with every big H!P announcement. Needless to say I doubt H!P will be going anywhere, but I'm a bit concerned about what Biyuuden members Miyoshi Erika and Okada Yui will be doing within it (all 3 members will still be in H!P). Some people speculate they may become soloists but I don't really think they are solo material...I can see a new group with them in it perhaps. But they might also become Z-level members like Ayaka and Maeda Yuki and Inaba Atsuko, not appearing much anywhere except Uta Doki! episodes...Rika was always the "big-name member" of Biyuuden and the other two, who were pretty much H!P n00bs at the time, were overshadowed a bit by her I think.

As for Ishikawa Rika, she still has a big fanbase so I think she'll still be active in H!P whether it's solo or in another group.

As for doinkies' thoughts on Biyuuden, in around 2005 or so I really, really liked them and would watch anything with them in it. My favorite song of theirs is still "Ajisai Ai Ai Monogatari". But since then they've kind of been a B-level group for me - not that I didn't keep up with their activities, but I didn't really make a point of watching absolutely everything with Biyuuden or a Biyuuden member in it. I also thought their costumes for "Aisucream to My Purin" looked stupid and that "Issai Gassai Anata ni A-ge-ru" was too cutesy for them.

Anyway, I wish all 3 members best of luck in their careers to come.

Today doinkies went to San Jose's Japantown, which is not very big but has some good stores. I managed to get some anime/manga goods, as well as just manga.

Nakayoshi Feb. 2008 w/furoku
Mint na Bokura vol. 1
Marmalade Boy vols. 1 + 2 (Japanese)

And a really cool Basara pencilboard:

as well as this Cardcaptor Sakura pencilboard:

I also got a Wish pencilboard, but it doesn't scan very well as it is translucent.

I also spotted Takada Akemi's artbook Tir na Sorcha, but doinkies didn't have enough money for it T_T I love her artwork and character designs, they are gorgeous. I hope to get that artbook next time I come.

There is this meme going around Japanese sites where you type in your name and you get a picture of what is supposedly most on your mind.

Here's doinkies' results:

The purple kanji means "desire" (as in wanting something I guess).

The dark blue kanji means "worry".

And the pink kanji is "love".

If doinkies types "doinkies" in katakana, I get this result:

In this case, I get "food", "love", "friends" and "money" as the things that are most on my mind.

I don't think either are really too accurate in doinkies' case though. ^^;;
